Farewell Massachusetts...

One day everything is as it was day to day, the next day it's packed...

... and emptying out

Last minute packing of our own

Trying to find something to do the last day as they loaded the truck became harder and harder. Everything was packed and the movers do all the work (If anyone is planning a big move I would highly recommend these guys. They were amazing. Not only fast, but careful)

The day sped by when the Flynns stopped to say bye...
and seeing Jeff at K-mart was a great start...
to the trip
hmm... I think I need to work on my rhyming
We love you guys!
Just 63 miles from home in Connecticut Matthew's car decided to act up and smell and smoke real bad. We had it "fixed" the next morning and continued on our way.

We stopped at the Maira's along the way where we were indulged in a wonderful feast and an early celebration of Mom's birthday... keeping the tradition of the first bite taken with someone holding your hands behind your back.

A fabulous raw chocolate, raspberry cake made by Tayla and Malena

Three cheers and a Happy Birthday, Mom!

The following day we made it to Ohio where Matthew's car broke down for good. It started smoking again right before an exit. We were able to make it off the ramp and there was a auto shop right there. They were able to look at it on the spot. They told us it may make it the whole way or break down in a mile. It broke down in the latter. Thankfully we had gone to a parking lot to transfer stuff to the truck and it broke there. Providentially there was an enterprise around the corner. Unfortunately no matter which card Mom offered the guy he still didn't have a car available. They were all taken! He called around to a few other rental places and none of them had cars. Thankfully the Cincinnati Airport was near by and we were able to rent... The Avenger

"Woke up at 5am, put on my camouflage
Wiped off my .243 and fired up my Dodge
Headed out to my ol' deerstand back in the pines
Gonna get me a ten point buck with 11 inch tines"
I know the song is probably talking about a nice big truck but I like the song and it was the first thing that came to mind when I saw it was a Dodge.

The Avenger made it as far as St. Louis before we had to trade it in due to an acceleration glitch. Instead we got the red Cruiser behind it.

Transferring our stuff for the 5th and final time before making it to Jordan and Melissa's.
Thus ends part one of our adventurous ride.
"Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness. "

Someone likes lemons!

I love the first bite tradition - I've never heard of that before.

The Avenger, nice. What was your top speed - I'm presuming that's how you discovered the acceleration glitch? ;)

Glad God brought you safely to MO and subsequently Edmond.

Does "Part one" mean that there a second part to follow...

Erik, the first bite is a Mexican tradition we adopted from some friends who were missionaries there. It makes your birthday fun and the "after" pictures can be very entertaining.
The Avenger could go up to 120mph... unfortunately the truck Mom was driving only went up to 75mph so I wasn't able to put it to the test :-)
Hopefully there will be a part two soon. And those lemons... they were just the left overs.

Amanda, we thought of you when we rented it. I think I'll name my first car "The Avenger" after it and we can go for a ride as if it was the real deal :-)

Ruth, It's definitely different... much warmer with the trees only starting to turn colors. The people are very friendly and we have been blessed in so many ways... so yes, it is OK :-)

Melanie - Wow, you actually noticed the max speed on the speedometer...

I'm curious about the purpose of said lemons - does your family make homemade lemonade, or do you use lemons for more creative purposes like powering mobile devices ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_LLj4_3ZRA ;)

Savannah, it was so nice seeing your family Sunday too and it was such fun finding out how alike we are :-) I hope we will be able to see you all soon!

Alina, Thanks for having us. It's always a great time with you guys!

Erik, you mean everyone doesn't check the max speed? ;-) must be a family thing...
The lemons are mostly used for everyday lemon juice needs, but we would buy in bulk from the place stores buy from. A case of lemons would mean about 100 per case. Even if they started going bad it was still more cost effective. The boys have looked into powering their ipods with them, but it didn't seem worth the effort.
